Free Foreign Language at Many Libraries

My kids and I have sampled every single Spanish  language lessons we could find.  Some we paid for dearly.  Some were free.  Hands down, we found that Mango Languages was a great program for my homeschoolers to learn foreign languages, and they have everything under the sun from Spanish, Japanese, and Mandarin to Slovak, Urdu and Pirate.

*If you are wondering how to get this for free, I am glad to tell you that most public libraries offer Mango Language online through their websites.  All you need is a library card and pin number to sign in.

Free French Tutorial Online

Is your child asking to learn French?

Here is a site you will want to check out.

"The French Tutorial is a web-based step by step lesson covering basics, pronunciation, but also grammar, vocabulary and everyday French. It offers audio support for better oral comprehension, a table of contents and an index for faster searches."

The first 13 lessons are free.   The deluxe edition costs very little ($11.00). 

It is certainly much cheaper with the alternative, which I wouldn't purchase until your child is ready to move onto French 2

Free World Language Tutorials

MERLOT World Languages Portal is an educational resource for teaching and learning languages. This website seems a little rough, as in the parent will have to fish around a bit to find the right tutorials, but in it includes mp3 and video streams that will help them hear and learn to speak the languages.
