When I started homeschooling, I followed the common core series entitled "What Your ... Grade Needs to Know". I loved them and still recommend them. The children loved squirrelling away and reading all of the literature and history in those books. But if you just want an listing of what your child needs to know, then a lot of the same information is available at the core standards website.
Click on "The standards" tab and download the appropriate PDF.
You will find all standards listed from K-8 plus English Literature and math for all grades.
This can be used to create a full curriculum
If you want the books on hand for a reasonable price, just click on the book below.

Free Chore Charts
Courtesy of Brought to you by the Letter G blog these free chore charts are going to make living in my house easier, I hope.
I think it has been unfair of us to verbally give the kids a chore list and expect them to remember it. I think they'll like this better... perhaps?
I think I'll go print it now.

Quizlet.com Flashcards
If you need help learning and memorizing facts, quizlet.com has online flashcards that are quite useful.
You can use pre-made flashcard sets, you can modify existing flashcard sets, and you can create your own!
You can of course upgrade to the Plus version for $10.00 a year. The plus version allows you to upload images and allows you to create an unlimited number of groups (probably suited for teachers)
The free version is pretty useful as-is though.

The Math worksheet site
The math worksheet site is a free online worksheet generator that creates worksheets for practice in addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, measurement, graphing, time telling, and more.
With The Math Worksheet Site you can create an endless supply of printable math worksheets. The intuitive interface gives you the ability to easily customize each worksheet to target your student's specific needs. Every worksheet is created when you request it, so they are different every time.
This way you can add the practice that your student needs to a curriculum you already like, or you can be freed from the constraints of a workbook or textbook that gives either too much or too little practice if you would rather direct the studies yourself.
Make Studying Fun with Study Stack
I recently came across a website that makes studying fun by taking vocabulary and concepts students needs to know and creating flashcards and games to help them learn them. . You can work with existing subjects and lists added, or you can customize your own list to study and learn. Visit Study Stack to learn more.

Teacher Tube, educational videos
I just stumbled upon teacher tube... It's like youtube for teachers and students
Some of the videos are more educational than others, but it is worth checking it out.
TeacherTube was the idea of Jason Smith, a 14-year veteran educator. Jason has been a teacher, coach, campus administrator and district administrator in public schools. He asked the question, "Why can't teachers, students, and schools utilize the power of the read/write web for learning?" To overcome barriers, he decided to just create a site and get started trying to help. He turned to his brother, Adam, who is a younger, digital native, with technical skills. Adam used his skills to develop the site and found a web host. Soon, Jason's wife, Jodie, joined the team to start populating the site with videos and help improve the communication. She too has 14 years of experience in education as a classroom teacher, campus technology integrator, and district curriculum coordinator.
